Do your kids act bored when you get out the Bible? Here’s a creative list of activities to teach kids the Bible, based on their interests and a chosen Bible passage:
Sing:
• Does the passage remind you of a song? Sing that song!
• Make up a new song about the story and dance to it.
• Use rhythm instruments like shakers or drums as you sing.
Create:
• Picture the scene from the passage. Draw, paint, or craft it with playdoh.
• Make a collage or use recycled objects to recreate the story using tape, glue, and scissors.
Play:
• Act out the passage as a skit with your family.
• Use toys like Lego, action figures, or stuffed animals as Bible characters to tell the story.
• Create paper bag puppets and use them to retell the story.
Imagine:
• What would it have been like to live in Bible times?
• Imagine what you’d see, hear, or feel if you were in the story.
• Write a short story or tell it aloud with all the details of what it would be like to be there.
Pray:
• Turn the Bible passage into a personal prayer for yourself or for others.
Apply:
• Ask questions like: What is this passage teaching? How does it apply to my life?
• Reflect: Does this encourage me? Should I change something in my life?
Memorize:
• Choose a verse to memorize. Sing it, say it in funny voices, or jump up and down while you recite it.
• Write the verse and make a puzzle out of it. Have fun racing to put it together!
Share:
• Share what you’ve learned with a friend or family member.
• Show off your artwork, sing your new song, or tell the story to someone else.
These activities will help kids engage with Bible stories in fun, interactive ways that match their interests!
